The namesake
(CD Audiobook)
Ashoke, a young MIT student and his wife, Ashima, emigrate from India to the Boston suburbs. Ashoke does his best to fit in with American culture, while Ashima resists assimilation and pines for her native land. When their son is born, they name him Gogol, a name neither American nor Indian, but that of a famed Russian author--and as he grows up, he struggles to find a place in American society, even as he cannot turn his back on his Bengali heritage.
