Summer does not usually bring vampires to mind, but this dark, edgy trio of blood-sucking novellas from three exceptional paranormal writers is just the thing to cause shivers and chills on a warm August night. A woman intent on avenging her father's death is joined in her quest by an enthralling stranger who claims her as his lifemate in "Dark Crime," Feehan's intense, explicitly erotic addition to her legendary "Dark (Carpathian)" series; a vampire and a human detective team up to stop a murderous vamp in Maggie Shayne's "Dead by Twilight," a story that expands her "Wings in the Night" series; and an archaeologist excavating Anasazi ruins connects with an ancient vampire shape-shifter and faces a life-changing choice in Lori Herter's mystical "Cimarron Spirit."
