As more bodies are found under even more unusual circumstances, they come ever closer to exposing the truth—but with unknown forces working against them, Maggie, Creed, and the dogs are running out of time.

Bestseller Kava's exciting sequel to Breaking Creed takes K-9 rescue dog trainer Ryder Creed and his dog, Bolo, to North Carolina's Haywood County, where there has been a major landslide. At the disaster site, the continual downpour makes the search for survivors dangerous. Among the missing are scientists working on a classified project at the local branch of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. After one of the bodies recovered by Creed's team turns out to be a murder victim, FBI agent Maggie O'Dell, the lead of Kava's other series (Stranded, etc.), joins in the homicide investigation. The suspense rises when Creed gets trapped in a mudslide, though he has reason to hope Bolo has escaped to bring help. The undercurrent of a potential romance between O'Dell and Creed adds heat.
