Ada must rely on her curious mind, her friends Rosie and Iggy, and her family to rescue a friend in trouble. When Uncle Ned goes airborne in a pair of inflatable pants and can't land himself, Ada devises a scientific plan to bring him back to earth. The plot's twists and turns test Ada's perseverance, creating an adventurous and funny scientific mystery out of the rescue mission. Turpin imbues each character with personality, embodying Ada's excited curiosity, her parents' occasional exasperation, and her brother's crankiness at being the subject of her experiments.
