Description
Grace Lin is the New York Times best-selling author of the Newbery Honor book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. In Ling Ting, Lin crafts a charming tale about a pair of Chinese-American twins who insist that, despite their physical appearance, they are NOT alike. Ling can't use chopsticks, no matter how hard she tries. And Ting can't sit still-a characteristic that makes the twins more different than ever after a small mishap at the barbershop. "Lin . shows her versatility once again in an original book that tells its story clearly while leaving room for thought and discussion."-Booklist, starred review

      • content: Grace Lin charms young readers with this Geisel Honor book. As one might expect, twins Ling and Ting appear the same (until their initial trip to the barbershop), but each personality shines as the girls share dumplings, magic, chopsticks, library books, and storytelling. Angela Lin is a childlike narrator who sets a leisurely pace. Her voices for each girl are subtly distinctive. Her enunciation is precise, and she adds well-placed inflection and spot-on emphasis and pauses to imitate the conversations of the twins. Lin's understated humor shines through: Would you prefer a "dump-ling or a dump-ting"? A.R. (c) AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine
