Description

Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe from New York Times bestselling author, Melissa de la Cruz, is a sweet, sexy and hilarious gender-swapping, genre-satisfying re-telling, set in contemporary America and featuring one snooty Miss Darcy.
The basis for the Hallmark TV Movie of the same name available on streaming.

Darcy Fitzwilliam is 29, beautiful, successful, and brilliant. She dates hedge funders and basketball stars and is never without her three cellphones—one for work, one for play, and one to throw at her assistant (just kidding). Darcy's never fallen in love, never has time for anyone else's drama, and never goes home for Christmas if she can help it. But when her mother falls ill, she comes home to Pemberley, Ohio, to spend the season with her family.
Her parents throw their annual Christmas bash, where she meets one Luke Bennet, the smart, sardonic slacker son of their neighbor. Luke is 32-years-old and has never left home. He's a carpenter and makes beautiful furniture, and is content with his simple life. He comes from a family of five brothers, each one less ambitious than the other. When Darcy and Luke fall into bed after too many eggnogs, Darcy thinks it's just another one night stand. But why can't she stop thinking of Luke? What is it about him? And can she fall in love, or will her pride and his prejudice against big-city girls stand in their way?

De la Cruz reinvents a classic tale in this Christmas-themed, gender-swapped version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Darcy Fitzwilliam is a self-made millionaire, enjoying success as a partner at a hedge fund manager in New York City feeling pressured by her family to marry Carl, her on-again off-again boyfriend. When she travels back home to Pemberley, Ohio, after a long absence, she is surprised by her attraction to neighbor Luke Bennet, who is deciding whether marriage is the next logical step with his girlfriend, Charlotte. Though Darcy initially dismisses their drunken kisses under the mistletoe at her parents’ Christmas party, she can’t shake the feeling that she might want more than make-outs. Meanwhile, Darcy’s best friend, handsome Bingley Charles, is falling for Luke’s brother Jim. Humor and romantic angst are at the heart of the novel as Darcy and Luke must decide whether they are willing to take a chance at love. De la Cruz’s Christmas romance is quick, witty, and a must for fans of Austen retellings. Agent: Richard Abate, 3 Arts Entertainment.

In this modern loose twist on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, it's almost Christmas, and wealthy hedge fund partner Darcy Fitzwilliam has rushed home to the family estate in Pemberley, OH, from New York City for the first time in years to visit her ailing mom. Now forced to attend her family's annual holiday party, Darcy has to face her former classmates and manages to make out with Luke Bennet after a few too many eggnogs while also playing matchmaker to Jim Bennet and Bingley Charles. But will laidback carpenter Luke ever be good enough for smart and sophisticated Darcy, or should she marry Carl, the obvious choice for her? VERDICT Read this for the fun holiday romance, not for the barely there Pride and Prejudice references.
