      • content: Narrators Summer Morton and Jay Crow sell obsession in Alexa Riley's For Her series. Morton portrays Paige Turner, a young woman scarred by her father's violent actions. Crow counters Paige's insecurity with an uncompromising portrait of her boss and lover, Ryan Justice. Crow captures Ryan's dominating personality and his long-term fixation on Paige with a gruff tone and staccato intonation. In lower, flowing tones, Morton evokes Paige's hidden sadness and urge for revenge. Morton skillfully reveals emotions by lingering on certain words with palpable longing. Both narrators are less strong at dialogue from the opposite gender. Riley's phrasing makes it equally difficult to tell when characters are thinking versus speaking aloud.
