"Hunting for Hidden Gold" is the fifth installment in the "Hardy Boys" series of mystery stories. Written by Canadian author Charles Leslie McFarlane and published under the pen name, Franklin W. Dixon in 1928, "Hunting for Hidden Gold" ranks as one of the best books of the series. While ice skating with friends on Shallow Lake, the Hardy Boys meet Jadbury Wilson, a poor old miner from Montana who tells them a tale of his lost gold. Meanwhile the boys' father, Fenton, is away in Montana investigating a case of missing gold. When the boys receive a telegram from their father to join him immediately in Montana, the two young men are thrust into an exciting adventure filled with kidnappers, outlaws, and a mad chase to find and recover the hidden gold. This edition follows the original edition, first published in 1928.
