Notes

General Note
"Contains in part the thirteen narratives originally hand printed by Kenneth Carpenter of the Black Rock Press, University of Nevada, Reno, in 1978 ... also included are eleven additional narratives"--Acknowledgments.
General Note
"... originally printed in 1978 in an edition of 105 copies on an 1837 super-royal Columbian handpress at the University of Nevada, Reno, Library by Kenneth J. Carpenter of the Black Rock Press. The type faces were Centaur and Arrighi, hand set. The paper was Tovil, an English handmade, and printed damp. The inks were Mandlik and Kelsey. The woodcuts were rendered on plywood by the printer and the designs were either his own emblematic illustration for a particular narrative or were derived from a traditional symbol associated with the Peyote way. In 1985 Heyday Books published a photo offset reproduction, 75 percent of the original size but, except for details in the front and back matter, otherwise identical to the original edition. The 2006 book edition includes eleven new chapters and has been redesigned"--Colophon.
General Note
Includes index.
