In addition to writing, USA Today bestselling author Karen MacInerney teaches writers' workshops and drives a mean carpool. Her book Murder on the Rocks was selected as an Agatha nominee for Best First Novel. When she's not working on her next book or chauffeuring children, she loves to read, drink coffee, attempt unusual recipes, and hit the local hike-and-bike trail. Karen lives in Austin, Texas, with her two children and a rabbit named Bunny, and she escapes to Maine as often as possible.

        April 1, 2006
Natalie Barnes, the owner of the Gray Whale Inn, a bed-and-breakfast on Cranberry Island off the coast of Maine, is trying to stop a corporation from building a large resort next door. Developer Bernard Katz is found dead the morning after getting the go-ahead from the city council to begin work, and Natalie is the prime suspect in his murder. Debut novelist MacB-Inerney details the running of a country inn, the danger an amateur dectective can face, and Natalie -s culinary delights (with recipes included). Sure to please cozy readers. MacInerney lives in Austin, TX.
