Alice TodHunter Moon, apprentice to ExtraOrdinary Wizard Septimus Heap, sets off in search of an ancient object that she hopes will reverse the terrible UnRaveling that threatens to destroy the castle and with it all Magyk.The Ormlet, a Magykal creature rescued from the evil Oraton-Marr, is preparing to transform into a mature Orm. Its metamorphosis from flying prankster into a creature capable of creating the Magyk-enhancing lapis lazuli cannot come quickly enough for Septimus. However, while the Ormlet seems to promise unlimited power, the loss of its egg sets in motion a spell that turns all lapis lazuli into dust. Meanwhile, the self-serving witch Marissa sets her eye on the throne; any throne. Multiple threads are woven together seamlessly to create a story that is greater than the sum of its parts. Tod is headstrong, fiercely loyal, and curious--the perfect heroine. Rich worldbuilding, endearing characters, and a plot that will keep readers guessing are only a few of the treats that await fans in this final installment of the trilogy.
