      Baxter’s solid sixth Last True Vampire paranormal (after The Lost Vampire) employs a supernatural star-crossed lovers scenario. Berserker Ewan Brún spent hundreds of years killing vampires, compelled by his clan’s leader and the Sortiari, a fanatic bent on the destruction of the vampire and dhampir races. Now the berserkers have broken free of the Sortiari’s bond. Ewan wants to further separate from the clan, tired of living hand-to-mouth and without control over his future. He’s taken by surprise when he meets Sasha Ivanov, a recently turned vampire, and manages to resist his ingrained urge to kill her. Sasha is in distress because the vampire she admired and loved for years turned out not to be her soul mate. Seeking excitement and mental escape, she hooks up with Ewan. As they meet on the sly, their connection becomes evident, leading them to find a way to live together. Plenty of hot sex scenes will encourage readers to overlook a middling plot.       A dark and sexy paranormal romance between a vampire and a berserker trying to live life on their own terms despite being sworn enemies. Free from the control of her vampire coven, Sasha Ivanov is living a life of excess, dancing and drinking as much as possible. While she's on a quest to sate all of her appetites, deep down Sasha is bored with life, using her incessant partying to cover up the loneliness of having been there and done that. When a friend suggests checking out an underground fight club called the Supernatural Thunderdome, where paranormal creatures fight to the death, Sasha eagerly agrees. What she doesn't expect to find at the fight club is her mate in the form of a vampire's greatest enemy: a berserker. Ewan Brun is an unbeatable berserker warlord hoping to garner enough winnings and riches at the Thunderdome to escape from beneath his leader's thumb. Since berserkers are supposed to kill vampires on sight, the fact that Sasha and Ewan are mates vastly complicates things. Not only do they have to fight against their ingrained desire to see and treat each other as enemies, but any relationship between them has to be kept secret from their respective higher-ups. Sasha and Ewan's chemistry is immediate, which only serves to enhance the romance, given how conflicted they both feel about sleeping with the enemy. The element of underground fighting adds an addictive, gritty element to Sasha and Ewan's sudden lust for one another. The best book to date in Baxter's (The Lost Vampire, 2017, etc.) Last True Vampire series. Electric and dangerous; a must-read for paranormal romance fans.

      Baxter's sexy paranormal romance features Sasha Ivanov, one of the few vampires left alive after their mortal enemies, the berserkers, carried out a vendetta against them. She is wicked because she is suffering from a broken heart. To compensate, Sasha has stopped serving as head of the coven's security and gone wild, spending her evenings partying, drinking (both alcohol and blood), and hooking up with different men. The male lead is Ewan Brun, a berserker warlord, one of the most feared creatures in the supernatural community. He is working towards his freedom from the vengeance-driven king of his clan by fighting bouts to the death in a supernatural fight club. And then Sasha comes to the arena, their eyes meet, and she may be mated for life to a mortal enemy who can't keep his mind or his hands off of her.
