Madoc of Avandos is embarking on an important expedition to cement magical alliances against the British and needs an escort to protect him. Disguised as Madoc's squire by an illusion totem, Moiread accompanies him on a diplomatic mission through Scotland, England, and Wales. Moiread is still not free of violence, and the two soon find out that their task won't be an easy one. Madoc puts his life in Moiread's capable hands, and soon that trust is superseded by his desire for this warrior woman. But is it reciprocated? Taking place 20 years after the events in Highland Dragon Warrior (2017), the second in Cooper's Dawn of the Highland Dragon series packs high adventure and high fantasy into one enthralling read.
