Description
Starting over is never easy, but in Thunder Point, where newcomers are welcome and friends become family, it's possible to find yourself again. #1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr takes us on a moving and rewarding journey as a young woman finds new hope. After losing her child, Ginger Dysart was lost in grief. But since moving to Thunder Point, a small town on the Oregon coast, Ginger is finally moving forward. Her job at the flower shop is peaceful and fulfilling, and she's excited to be assisting with the Lacoumette wedding. In spite of her lasting heartache, Ginger is swept up in the pleasure of the occasion. But the beauty of the Lacoumette farm and the joy of the gregarious family are ruined by an unfortunate encounter with the bride's brother, Matt. Struggling with painful memories of his own, Matt makes a drunken spectacle of himself when he tries to make a pass at Ginger, forcing her to flee the scene in embarrassment. But when Matt shows up at the flower shop determined to make amends, what started out as a humiliating first meeting blossoms into something much deeper than either of them expected. Everyone around them worries that Ginger will end up with a broken heart yet again. But if Ginger has the courage to embrace the future, and if Matt can finally learn to let go of the past, there may still be hope for a happy ending.

      • content: Narrator Therese Plummer will have listeners falling in love and crying their eyes out at the same time. After an embarrassing wedding encounter brings them together, Ginger Dysart and Matt Lacoumette both seek healing from failed marriages and a second chance at love. Plummer adopts a deliciously confidential tone that will draw listeners into the core of Ginger and Matt's heartache. It's impossible not to engage fully with the characters. The laughter and hesitations in phrasing that she adds create a natural flow of dialogue. In the heartrending scenes in which the characters express their grief, Plummer does not simply narrate, she shares the characters' emotional journeys. With Plummer's narration, Carr's story is a knockout. C.A. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine

        April 20, 2015
Carr continues her romance series set on the Oregon coast with a smoothly written story of two people who find healing and love after bad marriages. Ginger Dysart, still recovering from her baby’s SIDS death, punches farmer and professor Matt Lacoumette after he drunkenly gropes her breast during his sister’s wedding reception. After he apologizes, the two begin a friendship that realistically turns romantic. Their major stumbling block is anger; she’s gotten past hers, and he needs to give his up. Occasionally meddling large families broaden the scope, and a secondary story line involving ALS patient Winnie Dillon (mother of the heroine in One Wish) and her entourage—her nurse, the nurse’s teenage son, and a skating coach—adds depth and surprising humor. Carr falters only when using large moralizing brush strokes to paint the breakup of Matt’s marriage.
