     Sin, a Sumerian fertility god turned Vegas casino owner, and Kat, the zealous servant of bossy Greek goddess Artemis, knock boots and kick butt in Kenyon's juicy 11th Dark-Hunter paranormal love-fest (after 2006's Dark Side of the Moon
     ). Sin's been on the warpath for thousands of years, since Artemis stole his godhood. Sin's also upset about the disappearance of his twin brother, Zakar, and the imminent invasion of the vampiric Sumerian gallu, who plan to liberate the Dimme superdemons and destroy all humanity. Kat agrees to kill Sin before he kills Artemis, but instead the two fall in madcap love while trying to prevent Armageddon. It's just another day's work for the immortals, who act a lot like ordinary quarrelsome people with way cool superpowers. Though readers may need a scorecard to keep up with the cast, this series puts a contemporary spin on classical mythology that an increasing number of fans have found irresistible.

     Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series ("Dark Side of the Moon") returns with the story of Sin, a Sumerian god who has lost his powers to perpetual villainess Artemis. Sin seems like a violent rogue, but his goal is to destroy the galluvicious demons with a penchant for crueltyand to prevent the dimme from escaping and destroying Earth. Enter Katra, who resembles Artemis so closely that Sin kidnaps her so that he can finally get revenge. After the mistaken identity is resolved, they band together to save the world and fall in love in the process. The characters are Kenyon's usual: brooding man, tough yet nurturing woman, and villains as nasty outside as they are inside. Unfortunately, between the rotating cast of Dream-Hunters, Dark-Hunters, Sumerian and Greek gods, Daimons, demons, and characters named Damien and Deimos, readers may find themselves confused. The action is fast-paced and the love story enjoyable, but the series is so mired in Dark-Hunter mythology and legend that this likely won't win over any new fans.      If revenge is a dish best served cold, Sin figures a few thousand years should make it good and frigid. He cant wait to kill Artemis for stealing his godhood, but first he has todeal withEarth-destroyinggallu demons trying to escape their prison. As a preemptive strike, Artemis sends Katrato kill him. Realizing, though, that the gallu are the bigger threat, she willingly joins her enemy to stop them. Falling for him, however, could be the real problem. Longevity can be a series best friend or worst enemy, yet Kenyon manages to find the middle ground in each installment in her Dark-Hunter series (immortal warriors guided by Artemis and pledged to defend humankind against vampires andother enemies), creating the wounded heroes, sarcastic humor, andadventurous romps paranormal-romance readers love while keeping any hint of sagging or self-indulgent plot at bay.As the mastermind behind an internationally popular, massively detailed fictional universe and overarchingsaga filling adozen novels, Kenyon has written another fresh talefull to the brim with surprises.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2007, American Library Association.)
