The Royal Treatment
(Adobe EPUB eBook, Kindle Book, OverDrive Read)
The New York Times–bestselling author sweeps readers away to an alternate Alaska where kings and queens rule—and love can take most unexpected turns . . . In a world nearly identical to ours, except for the fact that Russia never sold Alaska to the United States, the eccentric Baranov family has a problem. The crown prince refuses to find a bride. And without a queen at his side, the kingdom of Alaska could fall into chaos. With no other choice, the Baranovs do the only thing possible in a situation like this: give a commoner a royal reeducation. Christina, Her Future Royal Highness or whatever, gets a crash course in how to be a princess-to-be, including, but not limited to: don't tell jokes you picked up from guys on the fishing boat; stifle your burps; don't ask for cocktail sauce with your oysters; always remember that the most important word in "royal family" is family; and never forget that falling in love is a whole lot easier than it looks . . . Queen of romance, snark, and wit MaryJanice Davidson gives readers a regal treat with this dazzling and delightfully wacky tale about a tough commoner and a stuck-up prince who discover that they are much more alike than they ever dreamed . . .

- In a world nearly identical to ours, the North won the Civil War, Ben Affleck is the sexiest man alive, and Russia never sold Alaska to the U.S. Instead, Alaska is a rough, beautiful country ruled by a famously eccentric royal family, and urgently in need of a bride for the Crown Prince. But they have no idea what they're in for when they offer the job to a feisty commoner. . .a girl who's going to need. . .
The Royal Treatment
The Princess-To-Be Primer,
Or, Things I've Learned Really Quick, As Compiled by Her Future Royal Highness—Yeah, Whatever—Christina. That's me.
1. Telling jokes you picked up from the guys on the fishing boat doesn't go over really well at a fancy ball.
2. Must learn to curtsy, stifle burps, and tell the difference between a salad fork and a fruit knife.
3. Must not keep thinking about Prince David's amazing eyes, lips, hands, shoulders, uh. . .wait, can I start over?
4. Becoming a princess is a lot harder than it... - isOwnedByCollections

Imagine that Alaska became its own country and that it is the present day and Alaska has a royal family, who, although they live in a palace in Juneau, are down-to-earth. The king, especially, enjoys going "native," growing a beard and chartering a fishing boat incognito. It is during one of these excursions that he decides that a fellow passenger would make a perfect wife for his eldest son, David. Christina is a wandering soul alone in the world, who not only ends up at the palace but quickly becomes a valued member of the household. She and David hit it off, but the day after their wedding, they are confronted with a crisis of major proportions. What's difficult to believe (once you get past picturing Alaska as a country) is that anyone would envision Christina as a princess: she has a mouth like a longshoreman. But it's fun to watch her and David, two opposite personalities, come together in Davidson's quirky tale.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2004, American Library Association.)
