Jacobs predicts much of the urban dysfunction of the 1970s and the urban renaissance of recent decades. Donna Rawlins's rich alto carries Jacobs's detailed analysis magnificently. Rawlins understands she's reading an important book. Occasionally, her voice expresses delight at one of Jacobs's succinct, powerful observations. Rawlins's presentation is always clear and consistent. This wonderful book lends itself beautifully to audio. Even those who have read it many times before will find it still worth a listen.
