     Maryrose Wood is the author of the first five books (so far!) in this series about the Incorrigible children and their governess. Hardingham honors the atmosphere created by original series narrator Katherine Kellgren but adds her own unique style. She captures governess Penelope Lumley's despair while trapped in a dreary Russian village and watching over dreadful children, all the while pining for her beloved Incorrigibles. Penelope is desperate to return to England, for the Incorrigibles are in danger, and only she can rescue them. Hardingham deftly incorporates a wide range of accents and voices, including those of chilling villains, distracted fathers, and ridiculous ladies of leisure.
