Forgiving Paris: A Novel
(Adobe EPUB eBook, Kindle Book, OverDrive Read)
In Indiana, Ashley Baxter Blake and her husband are about to take an anniversary trip to Paris, but she is hesitant. More than two decades ago, she made her most grievous mistake in that same city. She has never forgiven herself for what happened there, and she still harbors secrets that she's afraid will come to light. Just before the trip, Ashley gets a call from her niece. Jessie explains that her French boyfriend's mother remembers working at a bakery with an American named Ashley. "Could that be you?"
When Alice and Ashley meet, a flood of memories comes for both women, taking Ashley back to a reckless affair and an unexpected pregnancy and Alice to the night she nearly ended it all. Can this reunion bring healing and closure? Maybe it is finally time for Ashley to forgive herself...and Paris.

Ashley Baxter Blake is finally showing her art in Paris, which is a dream come true. It also brings up memories of her time there 23 years ago, when she was impressionable and fell into a relationship with a married artist. Her niece, Jessie, is spending the summer in Paris, where she has fallen in love with Gabe, whose mother, Alice, with a troubled past of her own, has a surprising connection to Ashley. Kingsbury's fans will be familiar with many of the characters from her Baxter novels: Ashley and her husband, Landon; her father, John; her oldest son, Cole. But newcomers to the series will get enough background information to enjoy this story. As Ashley fights her painful memories, Landon reminds her that her faith can get her through anything, a conclusion that many of the characters in the book have also drawn for themselves. There's a seemingly random assassination subplot, but it just serves Kingsbury's message that there are no coincidences when God is involved. Readers of Christian fiction will enjoy this latest Baxter tale.COPYRIGHT(2021) Booklist, ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
