Description
Darek is envious when his older brother, Clep, returns from a quest wearing dragon claws for a necklace. His brother has killed a Great Blue, the largest and most feared of all dragons. The next day the village will hold a great celebration, and Clep will be the guest of honor. Unable to sleep that night, Darek sneaks outside. He hears something whimpering and realizes that the slain dragon has left behind a newborn dragonling that nobody noticed. - content: Darek wants nothing more than to go out on a dragon hunt with his father and older brother. But when he finds an orphaned baby dragon, an enemy of his people, he instantly becomes protective of the small and helpless creature and decides to leave home and return the baby to the valley controlled by the dragons. Narrator Jeff Woodman doesn't have much to work with in this story: There are few characters, and the prose is pedestrian.
