After her husband's death, Cady wants to start over. She buys a lighthouse in Magdalene, Maine with the intent to renovate the historical structure. However the reason she's really there is because the love of her life, the one who got away 18 years ago, is the town's sheriff and Cady is hoping there's still a spark left between them, despite the terrible circumstances under which they had parted.
